Material Testing & Evaluation Lab

Welcome to the Material Testing & Evaluation Laboratory!

Our Material Testing & Evaluation Lab is an integral part of the Civil Engineering curriculum, providing students and researchers with hands-on experience in testing various construction materials. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to assess the mechanical properties, durability, and performance of materials used in infrastructure projects.

    1. Objectives:
      • To familiarize students with standard material testing procedures.
      • To evaluate the strength, elasticity, and durability of materials like concrete, steel, etc.
      • To support research and development in construction materials.
      • To ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards.
    2. Key Equipment & Tests:
      • Vicat Apparatus: Setting time of cement.
      • Universal Testing Machine (UTM): Tensile, compression, and bending tests.
      • Compression Testing Machine (CTM): Concrete and brick strength testing.
      • Impact Testing Machine: Toughness assessment of materials.
      • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Tools: Ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound hammer tests.
    3. Applications:
      • Quality assessment in civil engineering projects.
      • Research and innovation in sustainable construction materials.
      • Structural health monitoring and failure analysis.
